The San Francisco 49ers beat the Seattle Seahawks on October 12, 2026 to remain undefeated. Purdy posted a 92.5 passer rating against a Seahawks defense that had held its three prior opposing quarterbacks under 63, and he sits five attempts from qualifying for the best passer rating of all time. The discussion weighs that against his 2-4 record and roughly 75 rating versus Mike Macdonald's defenses. Seattle's turnovers are the other thread: 38 points off them for San Francisco, 44 allowed on the season, tied for most in the league. Whether the 49ers are the best team in the NFC or the league, with Kansas City the counterargument, remains contested, and six defensive linemen are on injured reserve.
