In October 2026, developers posted two AI-built GitHub tools, Dumb TV and Clean Your TV, that remove ads, tracking, forced updates and bloatware from Fire TV, Android TV and Google TV devices. Some users report bricked sets, while others report large speed gains. Reporting has since established that Samsung TVs ship with about 20 percent of storage taken by the operating system, and one user says Codex removal of Samsung tracking features made his TV three times faster. A separate finding of region-specific CNN tracking and facial recognition code on a Samsung TV is now part of the discussion. The safety of the tools remains contested.
