On September 30, 2026, an Omani co-pilot stabbed the captain of Fly Dubai Flight 1073, a Boeing 737 MAX flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 174 passengers, about two hours into the flight. The plane dropped 17,000 feet before passengers and two off-duty pilots subdued him, and the plane landed at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. Investigators now believe the co-pilot, Al-Khamami, intended to crash the plane into Ben Gurion Airport and acted as a lone wolf, not on orders from a group or state. The UAE leads the probe and calls it a terrorist attack, while earlier coverage had suggested a workplace altercation. Both pilots are alive and being interviewed in Saudi Arabia.
