LeBron James made his Philadelphia 76ers debut on October 21, 2026, beating the New York Knicks on opening night with 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Reporting before the game established that the Sixers plan to hold James and Joel Embiid to about 30 minutes a game early in the season. The discussion centers on whether the young, athletic roster can hide his defensive limits while his distribution lifts their finishing. James also exchanged words with a courtside fan at Madison Square Garden, telling him he is from Ohio, not the West, with Spike Lee mediating.
