Michelle Parker, a 33-year-old Orlando mother of three, disappeared on November 17, 2011, the same day a People's Court episode aired in which she and ex-fiance Dale Smith Jr. argued over a $5,000 engagement ring. Smith was charged 14 years later and has pleaded not guilty; he is held without bond at the Orange County Jail pending an unscheduled Arthur hearing, with attorney Rajan Joshi. A 46-page affidavit, released after TV stations petitioned to unseal it, cites scratches photographed on Smith and theorizes he choked Parker that day. Cell records place the two phones together near Lake Conway, and State Attorney Monique Worrell says the charge could be escalated to first-degree murder.
