Modern Times, a Minneapolis diner owned by Dylan Alverson, removed prices from its menu in spring 2026 as a protest against what he called a fascist economy, after the killing of Alex Preddy. On one visit about half the diners could not pay and did not. Alverson says donations after the change made the diner more profitable than when it charged, and it reopened in August with prices back at a zero profit margin plus 125 free meals a week funded by a grant. A later segment reports the restaurant, called Postmodern Times and attributed to Dylan Elverson, is closing.
