# NVIDIA's Sentry tool

AI & tech · Heat 1.0 / 10 · 6 shows · 30m airtime

NVIDIA rolled out Sentry on September 30, an open-source monitoring tool built into its chips that records what AI agents do. Sentry runs on network chips, not CPUs or GPUs, and sits alongside OpenShell, a containment layer for CPUs, within NVIDIA's Open Agent Safety Platform. Anthropic is implementing OpenShell, and Gecko Robotics' Komodo robot is running the platform in a military use case. OpenShell is Apache 2.0, on pace to be donated to a foundation, and has drivers letting any compute hardware plug in. OpenAI's absence from the partner list remains an open question, set against its pause on training after new disclosures and a breach of an Australian government website.

## Segments

- [Bloomberg Tech](https://boilpoints.com/u/bloombergtech), 2026-09-28, 0:51 to 4:14: **Adds OpenAI's Friday training pause**. Adds the buyback headline and the vendor claim that Sentry and OpenShell could have stopped the Hugging Face breach, plus OpenAI's Friday pause on training after new government-related disclosures and a breach of an Australian government website. New angle: OpenAI paused training last Friday after new disclosures and a breach of an Australian government website.
- [Bloomberg Tech](https://boilpoints.com/u/bloombergtech), 2026-09-28, 27:57 to 33:54: **Interviews Gecko's CEO on the Komodo deployment**. Interviews Gecko Robotics CEO Jake Lucerarian, who puts a named physical-AI deployment on the record: Gecko's Komodo robot is running the Open Agent Safety Platform in a military use case, with agents path-planning while humans hold control of certain actions. New angle: Gecko Robotics' Komodo robot is running the Open Agent Safety Platform in a military use case.
- [Tech Brew Ride Home](https://boilpoints.com/u/techbrewridehome), 2026-09-28, 1:12 to 4:41: **Notes OpenAI's absence from the partners**. Covers Nvidia's launch of the Open Agent Safety Platform, its OpenShell and Sentry components, and the claim it could have prevented the Hugging Face incident. Notes OpenAI's absence from the partner list. New angle: Nvidia's Open Agent Safety Platform includes OpenShell for CPUs and Sentry for DPUs, and OpenAI is missing from its partner list.
- [Daily Tech News Show](https://boilpoints.com/u/dailytechnewsshow), 2026-09-28, 21:49 to 25:34: **Adds the partner roster and OpenShell detail**. Walks through the two-layer design and adds the partner roster and the Anthropic detail: OpenShell is the containment layer Anthropic is implementing, Sentry runs on network chips rather than CPUs or GPUs, and Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle and CoreWeave are named as partners. New angle: Anthropic is implementing OpenShell, the containment layer, and Sentry runs on network chips, not CPUs or GPUs.
- [Squawk Pod](https://boilpoints.com/u/squawkpod), 2026-09-30, 28:59 to 29:44: **Walks through Nvidia's Sentry logging tool**. Mallaby walks through NVIDIA's new Sentry product: open source, built into chips, able to set parameters on AI agents and log everything they do. He frames it as a trust-building step among rivals, not as part of the White House accord. New angle: NVIDIA Sentry is open source, built into chips, and logs everything AI agents do.
- [TBPN](https://boilpoints.com/u/tbpn), 2026-09-30, 1:08:24 to 1:20:37: **Walks through OpenShell's licensing and roadmap**. NVIDIA's senior director of AI software walks through OpenShell: early access in March, Apache 2.0, drivers that let any compute hardware plug in, and a BlueField Vera reference design that moves controls into hardware. Adds licensing, governance and roadmap detail the card lacks. New angle: OpenShell is Apache 2.0, on pace to be donated to a foundation, and has drivers letting any compute hardware plug in.
- [Equity](https://boilpoints.com/u/equity), 2026-10-14, 6:22 to 7:18: **Recaps OpenShell and the startup angle**. Recaps NVIDIA's OpenShell as the open-source security layer for agents and Huang's framing of rogue agents as an engineering problem, then stays inside the startup-opportunity angle: Sequoia's backing of Symphony, security vendors selling to the labs, and how thinly the agent-security market can be sliced.
