A Hollywood Reporter article on October 27, covering Kim Kardashian's authorized book Citizen Kim, written by Jonathan Van Meter, reported that Paris Hilton canceled 17 scheduled interviews for the project. The book was published October 27 by Penguin Random House. Coverage initially read the cancellations as a deliberate snub, weighing whether Paris is protecting material for her own book or still carrying a grudge. The discussion has since widened: Citizen Kim also reports that Kim was held at gunpoint in Uganda in 2018 during a trip with Kanye West, shifting attention from the cancellations to the book's disclosures.
