Virtue and a Sledgehammer

Gaming · Heat 10.0 / 10 · 2 shows · 33m airtime

Devolver Digital released Deconstruct Team and Silky Harbor's Virtue and a Sledgehammer on PC on October 30 for $15. The game runs about three to five hours, and its protagonist is named Cartel. Coverage so far centers on the choice at its core: level every building for the destruction physics, or spare the robots, whose mundane and bigoted chatter makes the decision the whole argument. The Game Informer crew compares those two playstyles, and the open question is whether the premise holds up across that short runtime.

How 2 podcasts covered it

  1. Remap Radio, 2026-10-30 (1:30:11 to 1:46:00)
Breaks down the narrative and the developer's past games
Halfway-through discussion of the game's narrative: the protagonist Cartel, the flashbacks to her sister and mother, the digitized-consciousness premise and the rage-versus-conservative-town framing. Adds the developer's prior games and the protagonist's name, but stays inside the themes the card already lays out.
New angle: Deconstructeam also made The Red Strings Club and Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, and the protagonist is named Cartel.
  2. The Game Informer Show, 2026-10-30 (45:43 to 1:02:53)
Plays both destruction and robot-sparing styles
First impressions of Devolver's new indie: the premise, the Spain setting debate, the digitized-consciousness robots, and two opposite playstyles - one razing everything for the destruction physics, one trying to spare the robots.
New angle: Virtue and a Sledgehammer is out this week on PC for $15 and runs about three to five hours.
